  • More mainland Chinese firms (57%) compared with multinational corporations (37%) are expected to increase headcount over the next 12 months.
  • A majority of the firms surveyed (74%) have a presence in second and third-tier cities and 65% will be focusing their recruitment in these cities and first-tier ones.
  • Almost half (47%) of employers surveyed expect to increase salaries by 6-10%. Some 76% also expect to give <10% in bonuses.

More fast-growing mainland Chinese companies are entering the Hong Kong market and looking to expand

  • Over half of companies surveyed (51%) currently use contractors.
  • Most employers (83%) expect to increase salaries by <5%, and 60% are expected to give <10% in bonuses.
  • Popular options to support work-life balance include offering flexible working arrangements (42%) and technology devices that allow home access (49%).

  • 83% of employers in Taiwan expect to increase salaries by <5% in the next 12 months. Also, 71% of employers are expected to give <10% in bonuses.

  • The biggest talent gaps typically lie in the sales/marketing/business development and information technology sectors.
