Professional recruitment services firm, Michael Page, launched the China Workplace Assessment Survey under COVID 19 Report. According to the study, Chinese professionals are more positive towards the outlook following the nation-wide outbreak. In addition, employees from the Healthcare, IT/Internet and Financial industries displayed the highest levels of optimism. A total of 3,952 professionals, HRs and employers from various industries in China participated across two survey phases.
As the Chinese government pushes to resume manufacturing activities, the attitude of jobseekers looking to secure a new role is shifting towards positivity. 33% of respondents stated the pandemic will not affect their career change plans, compared to 19% at the beginning. The percentage of people who felt it was risky to leave their jobs also dropped to 25% from 41%. More than 30% people believe their companies can recover and resume pre-pandemic activities within 1 to 2 months.
Andy Bentote, Regional Managing Director at Michael Page Greater China, said, “Although the Chinese market is more challenging, we can certainly see people moving forward in a positive manner.”
In this research, professionals from traditional industries also highlighted the importance of digitalisation. “Agile management and digitalisation remain the pillars of developments in business. We are seeing more opportunities in Healthcare, IT, as well as new working models such as Contracting,” said Andy Bentote.
The report also shows a high satisfaction rate of 88% from employees towards their companies’ reactions and implemented measures during COVID-19. 63% thought their companies were very well equipped to handle the crisis and an encouraging 53% received enough guidance and direction from their management teams.
