This week marks a milestone in the Michael Page China journey. It fills me with great pride that we have been awarded the 2016 Liepin Hunter Award in China. I've seen our business grow over the last eight years, helping thousands of clients and candidates. I have personally seen the impact of how our work affect the lives of so many people and their families.
I wanted to share my thoughts with clients and candidates whose invaluable business has made this award possible, and also to our trusted partners and staff for their incredible work and support.
Our China business is currently the third largest out of the 35 countries in which PageGroup operates. Over the last 13 years, we have helped companies grow and candidates develop their careers by placing tens of thousands of professionals in various multinationals and Chinese companies.
We have rapidly grown our commitment to Chinese businesses and have quadrupled the number of domestic companies that we have worked with over the last two years.
Michael Page China has built its reputation on three key areas -- quality, specialism and expertise.
Quality: We respond swiftly and accurately to the needs of our clients and candidates and are particularly proud of our rigorous candidate assessment.
Specialism: Our team in China covers a total 13 disciplines. We employ specialist recruitment consultants, many with direct industry and sector experience. This means every consultant is an expert on their specific industry who can offer accurate advice to both employers and job seekers.
Expertise: While we have been in China for a relatively short period of 10 years, we leverage a global office network with over 40 years of experience in the recruitment business. We also constantly partner with industry leaders and external thought leaders to further complement our understanding of industry and market trends.
Nothing would be possible without our people.
To date, we have over 300 staff in our mainland China offices. We offer fantastic opportunities to everyone and subsequently, 74 per cent of our leadership team in mainland China is made up of home-grown Chinese talent. We plan to cross 90 per cent by 2019.
We have fostered an internal environment where everyone in our business, regardless of background, nationality, gender, race, age, sexual orientation, can succeed at the highest levels. We fully support diversity and inclusion within the organisation by developing women leaders and local talent.
