09 May 2012: Worldwide leaders in specialist recruitment, Michael Page International, have raised over HK$275, 000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, helping the charity to find a cure for childhood cancer. Sixteen volunteers from the Michael Page and Page Personnel businesses participated in the Charity Shave event on 24th of April 2012, the fourth consecutive year of participation and the biggest number of volunteers yet. Michael Page and Page Personnel volunteers and spectators came from across Hong Kong and Southern China to attend the Charity Shave event held at Delaney’s Bar in Wan Chai. Hairdressers from the well-known Toni & Guy salon were on hand to shave volunteers, who were supported by a large, cheering crowd that set a generous and lively spirit for the day. Anthony Thompson, Senior Managing Director of Michael Page International & Page Personnel in Hong Kong & Southern China commented; “Our people that have been involved with the St Baldrick’s Charity Shave event over the past four years have all expressed a great sense of pride in being associated with such an important, charitable event. In this country, we generally lead very fortunate lives and it is a great opportunity to give back to the community, in particular to young children.” “As a father of three young children it is encouraging to know that St. Baldrick’s tirelessly pursues support for children with cancer so we can see the world with fewer children and their families who are devastated by this terrible disease. I find it difficult to imagine a more worthy organisation than this,” Mr. Thompson added. Michael Page International’s long term commitment to St Baldrick’s over the past four years has resulted in a contribution of close to HK$1 million donated to the charity. The company first participated in the St. Baldrick’s charity event in 2009 in the middle of the global financial crisis, demonstrating their corporate responsibility vision of engaging, encouraging and equipping people to make a positive impact on the community.
