8 March 2012: Michael Page International has announced a sponsorship agreement between its China office and the Shanghai Rugby Football Club, the Shanghai Hairy Crabs. The 12 month sponsorship is effective from this month and the sponsorship fee will support the Shanghai Hairy Crabs’ participation in a range of tournaments and competitions over the 2012 rugby season. As the global leader in specialist recruitment, Michael Page China’s sponsorship of the ‘multi nations’ Shanghai Hairy Crabs club is aligned with the company’s international focus and reach. The majority of the Shanghai Hairy Crabs’ players are expats from countries including England, Ireland, Wales, France, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, USA, Germany, Russia, Chile and Argentina. “With 161 offices operating in 33 countries, Michael Page International employees represent a diverse spread of nationalities working across the globe. Many of our people have relocated to another country to work for the business. They know what it’s like to live in an expat community and the important role that sport plays,” says Andy Bentote, Managing Director of Northern and Eastern China for Michael Page International. The Shanghai Hairy Crabs rugby club was formed in 1995 and the club has grown steadily since. The club’s two teams participate in two tournaments – The Yellow Sea Cup, China’s major rugby tournament and the Shanghai Bei, held in Shanghai with local teams participating. “We are looking forward to watching how the Shanghai Hairy Crabs teams perform over the 2012 season, and the further development of the game of rugby in China,” Mr Bentote adds.
